Violist, Jennifer Kang
​
Sixteen‑year‑old violist Jennifer Kang is quicklyemerging
as a distinctive young artist, recognized for her expressive
sound, technical command, and thoughtful musical voice.
She currently studies with Dimitri Murrath at the San Francisco
Conservatory of Music.
Jennifer is a National YoungArts Award Winner and has been
honored on the international stage as a semifinalist in the
2025 Johansen International Competition in Washington, D.C.,
and a quarterfinalist in the 2025 Cecil Aronowitz
International Viola Competition in Newcastle, England.
Her additional accolades include Second Prize at the
NFMC Wendell Irish Viola Competition, First Prize at the
2024 American Viola Society Competition, and multiple
awards at the 2023 NorCal Viola Society Young Violist
Competition, including First Prize, Best Bach Performance Award, and Best New Piece Prize.
Jennifer's summer studies have taken her to many of the world’s leading programs for young musicians, including the Perlman Music Program (2024 & 2025), Morningside Music Bridge (2023), Music@Menlo Young Performers Program (2022), and Heifetz PEG (2021). She has worked closely with an exceptional roster of artists, receiving instruction from Carol Rodland, Kirsten Docter, Steve Tenenbom, Jeffrey Irvine, Hsin‑Yun Huang, Teng Li, Ori Kam, Nicolas Cords, Atar Arad, Jonathan Vinocour, and Michael Klotz.

Jennifer is equally committed to using music as a force for good. She serves as President of Nahnoom, a community music organization that supports Red Cross Disaster Relief through benefit concerts, and is the regional director for the Santa Clara division of the Back to Bach Project, an initiative dedicated to inspiring children through music and arts education.
Beyond her musical pursuits, Jennifer is an award‑winning writer, having earned Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, including two Gold Keys and multiple regional honors. She enjoys reading, spending time with friends, and experimenting in the kitchen.
