Amy Goto was born in 2004 to Japanese parents in Columbia, South Carolina. Amy began playing the cello at the age of three. Since 2011, Amy has been taking private lessons with Dr. Natalia Khoma, Associate Professor of Cello at the College of Charleston.  In 2013, Amy played in the Extraordinary Young Artists Concert sponsored by the Town of Kiawah Island Arts Council in South Carolina and she was chosen to perform in the opening concert of the Piccolo Spoleto Rising Stars in Charleston, South Carolina. She was also invited to perform in the Young Artists Series at the Fountain Inn Center for Visual and Performing Arts. In 2014, she had the honor to solo with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra and the Lake Murray Symphony Orchestra. Thereafter she performed at the opening luncheon ceremony for Spoleto Festival USA and Piccolo Spoleto Festival. Amy was  invited to compete in the IX International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians in Novosibirsk, Russia in December 2015 where she received the encouragement award. Amy enjoys watching classical ballet and reading. Her favorite composer is Franz Liszt.
